Have YOU heard? January 15
Today is National Hat Day! And I’m not just “capping” off the day with that fact! Did you know the term “mad as a hatter” came from hat makers in the 1800s who went a little loopy from using mercury in the hat-making process? Talk about some “head-spinning” history! These days, we just tip our hats to safer manufacturing methods!
And speaking of manufacturing, on this day in 1889, the Coca-Cola Company was incorporated in Georgia! But here’s something that’ll make you bubble with surprise – the first Coca-Cola wasn’t even carbonated! Talk about starting flat and working your way up!
Birthday alert! The incredible Martin Luther King Jr. was born on this day in 1929! Here’s something you might not know – he skipped both the 9th and 12th grades and started college at just 15! Talk about having a “dream” academic career!
Today is also National Fresh Squeezed Juice Day! Orange you glad I told you that? Did you know it takes about 18 oranges to make one pitcher of fresh-squeezed juice? That’s what I call putting the “squeeze” on your fruit supply!
Here’s something to “chew” on but if you take too big of a bite you’re liable to get brain freeze – it’s National Strawberry Ice Cream Day too! The first recorded strawberry ice cream recipe dates back to 1813 in England!
